update # 21
a fish died in the tank under my watch and i didn't take it out immediately. the other fish would have eaten it. crisis.
i think i forgot to read the part in the contract i didn't sign that said the fish were my responsibility.
the only reason i clean and feed the fish is that nobody else will (except one lady who used to fee them till i came along - the one who told me off).
the only reason i clean and feed the fish is because mum has had fish for a long time and from helping her out i know what to do.
i really don't like fish - i don't eat them (except fish and chips) and i won't touch them. if they die that becomes someone else's problem. and most people know that.
now i have offended someone else in the work place. it had to happen. i have managed to inadvertently offend someone at almost every place i have worked. i offended someone with out being aware that i had even said anything. maybe i am challenged. but she is leaving soon and so are the fish. brilliant.
so to counteract this bad day, here is some pretty yarn i have bought. one ball will become socks. the other a semi-circular shawl.
this is the shawl ball:

clip-less pedals and shoes*. i tried. i fell off. i tried again. but i can't do it.
you clip and then you are stuck, unless you remember to un-clip yourself. not a natural foot movement. while clipped in i spend most of my time thinking about how to clip out.
maybe one day i'll try again. maybe.
*note: these are not my shoes. i am having trouble loading my photos.

update # 20
i'm listening to fettes brot - german hip-hop*. catchy. enjoyable. currently untranslatable (as the german-speaking IT guru isn't here and i can't speak german).
i am also quite keen on 2raumwohnung - german dance* music ("2 room apartment" i think it translates to). also german. also currently non-translatable (as per reasons above).
completely unrelated, but also really groovy. bicycle parking we recently found in East Vic Park (perth, wa):
*not generally a genre of music i listen to
update # 19
a semi-successful trifle:
i forgot to soak the sponge in juice prior to the jelly so i had to add the green jelly as my IT guru likes the sponge and fruit set in jelly. anyway it tastes good, but the custard i bought was a bit disappointing, maybe next time i'll make my own.
ABC* ginger bread people:
the first time i have ever made proper ginger bread. very yummy.
one thing i discovered was it was better for the ginger bread to be a bit on the thicker side - it stayed nice and chewy, the thinner ones were a bit to crisp. also, without an over timer it was a bit tricky to judge 10min cooking time - so each batch i did turned out different (i only had 3 trays, but about 6 - 8 trays of biscuits! hence several cooking batches).
*already been chewed
update # 18
i like the wider text fields, but i don't like the empty part on the right hand side. i want the text to sit central, but be wide like it currently is.
i'll have to recruite my personal IT guru to help rectify the situation.

this is.... my favorite cup
i bought this cup and saucer in Kanazawa, Japan on the day that the cherry blossoms bloomed last april. it is an amusing and enlightening experience to be in japan when the cherry blossoms flower. it seemed that day in Kanzawa that almost the whole town had taken the day off work to view the cherry blossom in the park! but when you see the whole parked filled with these delicate blooms you can understand why.

update # 16 ?
a recent favorite from the site: Buddha Cat
moar funny pictures
i blame my mum for my sudden obssession with Northern Exposure an American Drama/Comdey TV show from the mid-90s set in Cicely, Alaska. She had the great idea of buy the 1st season DVD for my Dad. so we all watched a few episodes. quite amusing. but my mistake was going to the vic park library and discovering that they have seasons 2, 3 , 4, 5 (?).... so i've finished watching season 2, and now i have 23 episodes in season 3! and the great thing is that Flo is at work this weekend! hoorah - more dvd watching time..... :)
on a more productive note, i have finally gotten round to making some gingerbread biscuit dough, so that i can test out my new ABC cutters (this will be explained later). i now have to wait 24hrs for the dough to have a party in the fridge. THis is something strange to ginger cakes and biscuits - they need time to develop. There is a fantastic 2 Fat Ladies recipe for ginger cake, and I made some for my granny but i never got a chance to taste it as you have to let it sit for about 3 days before you eat it. mmmm, stale cake?
oh, and before i forget i have 3 months work with my favorite place I have worked for so far! it's full time, but its money which is the main thing. i'll just have to motivate myself to do sewing on weekends and after work. i think i can do that!
here are a few shots from NYE and just general life in the west:

Flo's new purchase:
we probably spent about an 45min to an hour at the music shop looking at guitar amps. something i hadn't really thought about before: each amp has a very different sound. so we tried out 4 or 5 amps before this one. we hadn't actually set off to buy an amp, just to look but the moment he started playing this amp you could see in his eyes that he needed to have it. i can relate to that, like i sure almost all of us can!

Update # 15
I am now residing back in perth and happily sweating at that! you may
have noticed that the past week has been a tad bit hot? thursday was
40 degrees and i think the rest of the week has been above 35! thank
fully today has been a bit cooler which has allowed me to open up the
house to capture the breeze and hope that it cools down. i don't mind
the 40 degree heat during the day, but come night time i want to
sleep reasonably sweat free!
i had a wonderful time in sydney with my parents and those who i
managed to catch up with during my short visit. christmas is always a
busy time so i really appreciate that i caught up with at least some
of my friends.
hope you all had an enjoyable christmas with friends/family. my
parents and i spent christmas in the blue mountains, which was great
except i might have forgotten to pack the presents into the car. but
we'll gloss over that part..... christmas day was rather cold - we
went out for a walk in the arvo, and we all put on jackets - mum even
had a scarf! we had the fire going all day and i must say i really
enjoyed my roast dinner all the more for the unusually cold weather.
boxing day was more pleasant in temperature and weather!
Flo and i went out on the town for NYE - to amplifier bar in perth,
which was excellent! they had 2 sections - one with more rock/pop
music (and 3 live bands - including Jebadiah), and the other room had
various DJ's playing stuff. all 3 bands were really excellent and we
both throughly enjoyed ourselves. i hope you all had a great NYE
where ever you were!
Now for the exciting news:
Milky and Rosie (the brand) is now selling on etsy! i have only
listed some of the items i have for sale - not everything is ideal to
sell online as the postage costs can get quite high and it probably
wouldn't be worth it. please check out my site at etsy, and let me
know what you think!
here are a few photos from my trip to Sydney, including a few photos
from the mountains:

update # 14
i've been having a great time while i am here, and have managed to fit in some time for craft - i made a table runner for my aunt, and a few things (beanies and gloves) for friends in cold countrys. which reminds me that i need some cardboard for pom-pom making.
i have managed to do some op-shopping and when i get home i will share my treasures!
we visited my dad's parents yesterday in wollongong, and came back with a lot more stuff that we brought down - including for me: two hand-painted mini portugese soup dishes, a small glass pot (a gift my grandma got for here 21st), and a glass jug. my dad came back with a pile of books, and glass panels from his grandfather's front door (this is a hint to flo that hoarding is a genetic disease and its not my fault). and mum came back with an old singer sewing machine. mum summed up their place quite well by stating it is like "Aladin's cave". honestly, everytime you go down you think it can't be possible for more stuff to appear, but then "poof" out of nowhere things just seem to appear!
i'd better go as we have to head up the mountains soon.
happy christmas.
